Tweed Wastewater Lagoon System Upgrades

The project will upgrade the Tweed Wastewater Lagoon System in Tweed, Ontario with additional lagoon storage capacity, and other features that will help to reduce flooding and provide efficient drainage. The work will replace an existing drainage ditch with 1100 metres of new covered discharge pipe, construct an additional 2.8 hectares of wastewater storage, and install upgrades to the aeration system. The project will help ensure the wastewater facility meets new effluent criteria, reduce early wastewater spring flooding and discharges, reduce wastewater toxicity to fish, and ensure that adequate wastewater storage capacity exists to address future demand and growth in the Municipality of Tweed.
