Description | Twin Metals Minnesota is investing in the electrification of its mining and support vehicle fleets by converting from diesel equipment to battery electric vehicles. This initiative aims to reduce onsite greenhouse gas emissions by 65%, decrease power requirements for underground ventilation and heating, reduce maintenance needs, lower noise levels, and improve worker safety and air quality. The electric vehicle fleet will represent nearly 100% of the mining and large support vehicles for the project, making Twin Metals the first mine in Minnesota to adopt battery-electric vehicle technology. |
