Description | The twin tunnel project is an alternate all-weather route connecting Meppadi in Wayanad with Anakkampoyil in Kozhikode district to reduce traffic on the congested Thamarassery Ghat road. The project includes 8.11 km of twin tunnels beneath the fragile hills and forests of the Western Ghats. It aims to provide a safer route less prone to landslips during the monsoon season. The project was inaugurated for blasting works in March 2026 and is scheduled for completion by 2029. |
