Description
Description | The Project consists of the reconstruction of the Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre, which was destroyed in a fire in December 2019, with a brand new, high-efficiency, fully energy-integrated arena. The arena will house an NHL-sized ice sheet (60.9m x 25.9m) and include five dressing rooms, fully accessible washrooms with green fixtures, concession area, fitness center, and multiple offices for community groups and event organization. The Project will also include the repaving of the existing 2700 m2 parking lot. An energy consultant will assist the design team in the carbon footprint reduction and in completing the Green Globes Evaluation, which is a green building assessment and certification program. The Reconstruction of this building will include specific green elements such as: 4th generation solar fiber optic lighting units, a rink floodwater treatment system, rink pump optimization equipment, water-water heat pump/heat recovery unit, energy efficient ice refrigeration system and piping, low emissivity ceiling and a magnetic bearing chiller and the purchase of a Zamboni. This Project will benefit the community of Tyne Valley by increasing the energy efficiency of the Tyne Community Sports Center, as measured against the original facility, which was recently destroyed by fire, and improve access to and increase the quality of its community, cultural and recreational infrastructure. |
