Description
Description | The United Arab Emirates is planning a new deepwater port on its east coast in Fujairah, developed by Dubai-based DP World, to allow cargo to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. This project aims to reduce reliance on the strategically vulnerable Strait of Hormuz by enabling cargo to enter through the Gulf of Oman and be transported overland to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and neighboring Gulf countries. The project includes a new terminal at the existing harbour in Fujairah and is expected to complement the existing Jebel Ali port rather than replace it. |
