Description
Description | Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara (“UAG” or “the University”) was established in 1935 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and operates two types of educational establishments, the University itself, as well as community colleges known as UNICO. The University also includes 2 teaching hospitals, an international medical school and several community clinics for general medicine and dentistry. UAG’s School of Medicine is highly recognized worldwide, with around 200 international students a year, and from where over 16,000 American physicians have graduated in the past 30 years. The University also owns, as part of its holdings, three hotels, one sports team and some smaller business concerns, though these are excluded from the scope of the Project. The UAG project (the “Project”) consists of: the construction and renovation of existing facilities, with a specific focus on the international medical school, (ii) the expansion of UAG’s community college network, (iii) investments in IT systems, and (iv) refinancing of short-term debt. UAG’s estimated investment for its Project is of around MXN 1,285 million (equivalent to $110 million), to be deployed over the next three years. The IFC loan of MXN 585 million (equivalent to $50 million) will fund items (i) through (iii) of the Project. |
