Economic/Social Impact of the Project Ministry of Coal allotted Chendipada and Chendipada-II Coal Blocks as captive mines jointly to UPRVUNL, CMDC and MAHAGENCO on 25/07/2007 under Government Dispensation in the ratio of 50-31.47-18.53 respectively to meet fuel requirement of their power plant. UPRVUNL, CMDC and MAHAGENCO are State Government companies of Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra respectively. UPRVUNL, CMDC and MAHAGENCO formed Joint Venture Company called UCMCCL to carry out development and operation of the mine. Chendipada and Chendipada II coal block is located in Talcher coalfield in the state of Odisha. It has a mineable reserve of approx. 1474 Million Tonne of coal with peak coal mining capacity is 40 Million Tonnes per Annum. Washery will also be established for beneficiation of coal mined from Chendipada coal block in adherence with guidelines of Ministry of Environment and Forest. Thermal Power projects of more than 8000 MW capacity of Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra are largely Update as of 01.05.2020- Coal block is not allocated to Power Sector.
