UFF Araucária Floating Solar Plant at Billings Dam

The first stage of the implementation of the first floating solar plant in the capital of São Paulo, located at the Billings reservoir. The plant has 10,500 photovoltaic panels on the water surface and an initial investment of R$30 million, with a capacity to produce up to 10 GWh per year, equivalent to the consumption of 4,000 homes. The plant has 7 MW peak installed power, with 5 MW of connection power, and uses photovoltaic panels installed on high-density polyethylene floats. It is the largest floating solar plant in Brazil operating commercially in distributed generation mode, with generators located close to consumption centers. The project is coordinated by the Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics of São Paulo.
