Description | Uganda has signed an agreement with UAE-based Alpha MBM Investments to develop a $4 billion refinery in Kabaale, Hoima District. The project aims to transform Uganda from a net importer of petroleum products to a self-sufficient energy nation, providing thousands of jobs and fostering local expertise. The refinery will be one of East Africa's largest energy investments and is expected to reduce Uganda's $2 billion annual imports of refined petroleum products. The project targets a Final Investment Decision by July 2026, after which construction will commence. |
