Description | Construction of 1,147 km medium voltage, and 808 km low voltage distribution networks, last mile connection to 58,206 rural households, 5,320 rural business centres and 1,474 rural public institutions to the grid and procure additional 20,000 connection materials, ready-boards, and pre-paid energy meters to intensify last mile connections near the existing grid in already electrified rural areas that do not require grid extension. In addition, procure 79,077 connection materials, ready-boards and pre-paid energy meters to intensify the last-mile connections near to the existing grid in already electrified rural and urban areas. The EU-AITF TA grant will finance the studies for “electricity cost of service and affordability of tariffs” which will helps support the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) to determine the cost of service and affordability of electricity in order to continuously review and adjust the tariff to achieve cost-reflective, sustainable and affordable tariff levels in Uganda. As at 31 December 2018, the project implementation agency has completed the following: (i) finalized the procurement process for the recruitment of consulting firms for the study, the consultant mobilized and collected the necessary data and information for the studies and submitted the inception report, (ii) the preparation of the draft study report of the cost of electricity service and affordability of tariffs, (iii) Stakeholders discussion on the draft cost of electricity service and affordability of tariffs study, The next steps is to incorporate the inputs collected at the stakeholders workshop, update and submit the final study of the cost of electricity service and affordability of tariffs. |
