Description | XLCC plans to build the UK's biggest dedicated high voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea cable factory in Hunterston, Scotland. The factory will produce 525kV cable for offshore transmission lines and 320kV HVDC kit primarily for offshore wind farms located more than 100km from their grid connections. The project also includes building one of the world's biggest cable-laying vessels to install the cables. The factory aims to produce just short of 2,000km of cable per year in its first phase, with plans to double or triple production in subsequent phases. |
