The 7-story building relocates UNC Surgical Hospital’s operating rooms to two floors, supports large surgical teams and future growth, and includes 80 intensive care beds, clinical offices, pre- and post-operative patient rooms, a sterile processing area, hybrid ORs, and a satellite pharmacy. The design addresses challenges such as compact site use, operational efficiency with a Lean-validated onstage/offstage model, noise reduction, and enhanced safety with a pedestrian bridge and lockdown capabilities. |
