Under One Sky: Art Residencies in Vikno

Under One Sky: Art Residencies in Vikno is a cross-border cultural cooperation project that brings together artists and communities from Ukraine, Poland, and Spain to foster artistic mobility, rural revitalization, and European solidarity through a unique residency programme. Taking place in the historically significant village of Vikno in western Ukraine, the project situates artistic residencies within the local rural context, enabling creative exchange in a region heavily affected by war and cultural centralization. Over the course of four thematic residencies—in literature, painting, music, and traditional crafts—16 artists (two from Ukraine, one from Poland and one from Spain per cycle) will live and work together, co-creating new works and engaging with local communities through public events and participatory formats. By focusing on rural cultural access, community involvement, and international cooperation, the project supports Ukraine’s integration into the European cultural space and contributes to the EU’s priorities in inclusion, sustainability, and digital transformation. Through digital dissemination, residency-based artistic collaboration, and a strong partnership structure, the project aims to build long-term resilience and cultural capacity in areas often excluded from transnational collaboration.
