Description

Description

"The challenges facing the European Union are numerous: the sovereign debt crisis, the difficulty of sustaining growth and employment, the widening of social inequalities, the challenge of migration, tax havens, etc. And yet we are facing a paradoxical situation. On the one hand, in the face of these challenges, it is clear that the next major step in the European project will necessarily be that of a fiscal and budgetary Europe. At the same time, fiscal policy is totally absent from public and political debates. But what kind of European Budgetary and Fiscal Union do we need? The Chair ""Understanding and Disseminating on European Fiscal Integration (DEFI)"" aims to disseminate new knowledge to a wide audience, to raise awareness of civil society to the future challenges that the EU will have to face, but also and above all to encourage debate and support for a process of co-construction on what should become the European model. This project is innovative for at least 3 reasons: (1) This project is innovative in its content: it proposes a teaching mainly in economics, dealing with the European economic model and fiscal integration in particular. Moreover, because of the interdisciplinary dimension of the subject, this project also offers insights from political science, sociology and law. (2) This project is innovative because of its geographical location: taking advantage of Strasbourg's European location, spaces for dialogue, exchange and training will also be open to a wider public (3) Finally, this project is innovative because of the learning and debating tools it uses: in addition to traditional classroom teaching, this project provides for immersion sessions for high school students and the implementation of distance learning and the use of digital tools to disseminate knowledge to master's students in various European universities."
