Description

Description

"Understanding Europe: BEACONS of European Integration The MAIN OBJECTIVE of the BEACONS is to support a better understanding of the EU: its origins and history, the functioning of its institutions and laws, as well as European citizenship, fundamental rights, and democracy, among the teaching staff of Polish primary and secondary schools and VET institutions, so that they can effectively and interestingly integrate this content into the educational cycle for which they are responsible in their schools. BEACONS' direct activities will involve at least 120 TEACHERS FROM AT LEAST 15 DIFFERENT SCHOOLS ACROSS POLAND. They will become the “beacons” - transmitters of the acquired knowledge in their schools. Thanks to this, there will be a multiplication effect of extending the benefits to entities and individuals who did not directly participate in the project - 120 teachers will teach pupils in at least 3 grades, each of which will have at least 25 pupils. With this multiplication, at least 360 grades, including 9,000 pupils, will benefit from teachers' participation in the project. The project consists of 3 SEPARATE, ONE-YEAR CYCLES, each involving 40 teachers of a different type of school (1-primary schools; 2-high schools; 3-VET). Every year, teachers will participate in 2 types of activities: (1) 15-hour COURSES (WP2), held hybrid, taught by highly qualified academics from the IPEA & IP UKEN, covering 4 modules: (a) Genesis and history of European integration; (b) EU institutions and law; (c) Citizenship, democracy and fundamental rights in the EU; (d) Ars docendi - psychological and pedagogical workshops; (2) A 3-day intensive summer SEMINAR (WP3). All participants will receive formal CERTIFICATES at the end of the project. WP4 will cover dissemination, including (1) Publication of 4 scientific articles in the ""Yearbook of Public Administration""; (2) Publication of Toolkit. A project website and social media profile will also be created."
