Description
Description | The EU Green Deal (EGD) is arguably the most ambitious plan globally for making economy sustainable and for restoring biodiversity at such a s scale. In Russia the EGD is being recognised as an important game-changer in the whole EU-Russia relationship. Although the prevailing discourse is on expected barriers to trade, many regard it as an opportunity for green transition of Russian economy, while the interest to overall EGD objectives and methods, as well as to specific policies and management mechanisms in EGD’s policy areas is growing. Awareness and understanding of the EGD in Russia are important for building climate neutral and sustainable Europe. To support this, UNIVER brings forward the following objectives: - Developing and teaching annually the disciplines covering the EGD, its institutional context in the EU, and its sectoral policies and their implementation in the sectors – Climate governance (30 hours / 2 ECTS, 21 students), Biodiversity governance (30 hours / 2 ECTS, 33 students) and Sustainable transition of cities (32 hours / 2 ECTS, 33 students); - Supporting informal education and dissemination of knowledge on EU subjects through the development of a package of online open access interactive materials covering 5 key module’s topics, and web streaming of selected lectures from the summer school and degree teaching (at least 12 academic hours / year); - Advancing understanding of the EGD and its potential for informing sustainability transition policy discussion in Russia through research, and disseminating the results through papers in international and domestic peer-reviewed journals (2 in total); - Disseminating information, insights and reflections on EGD-related policy innovation to stakeholder communities through open-access research and learning materials, and through a science-policy workshop (at least 25 participants). |
