Description

Description

The unique natural and cultural heritage of the program area provides a vital source of tourism. For 71% of all holiday trips (5 days or longer) of Germans to Denmark "experiencing nature" was a particularly important travel motive (Source: RA 2016). For all trips by Germans, the average is only 56%. The same applies to the Danish travel market: 66% of the interviewed sayed, that they choose the coastal areas in Denmark as a tourist destination because of beach, coast and sea, another 66% mentioned “nature experiences” as reason. No other travel motives were mentioned that often (Source: VisitDenmark, Turistundersøgelsen 2014). This strength must be preserved for the future and used continuously for the region. A so far little-known part of the common heritage is the underwater world of the Western Baltic. UNDINE II would like to invite the guests of the program region to explore the treasures of this hidden world as unforgettable holiday experience. Therefore UNDINE II offers experienced helpers (medial, printed or in person) which guide the way (for example to diving and snorkeling sites), tell the true stories (for example environmental education programs) and who bring these secrets into life and colour. At the same time these helpers also sensitize for the need for protection and the dangers, the sea is faced with. They define clear criteria for the exploration tours to ensure that the treasures will permanently retain their value. For this, in UNDINE II environmental and natural protection experts work competently together with nature information centers and tourism experts. In this way they use across the border their national background experience for the common task and the common sea. UNDINE II thus opens in a sustainable manner an underdeveloped part of the maritime active tourism for the region, thus strengthening their competitiveness by permanently new attractive tourist offers and contributes therefore to increased growth and more jobs.
