Description
Description | The aim of the project is to contribute to improving the socio-economic living conditions of the local population and internally displaced persons in host communities in Syria through short-term employment promotion and medium-term income-preserving or income-generating measures. The project's target group is primarily women and men in the host communities, particularly farmers, young adults and people with disabilities. The project helps to meet the basic needs of the beneficiaries and their families through short-term employment and to improve income prospects in the medium term by providing means of production and training. This will contribute to stabilizing the economic and social environment. The measures are intended to create around 7,300 short-term jobs and maintain a further 600 jobs in the short term and around 1,800 jobs in the medium term. The main measures include the implementation of cash-for-work measures, e.g. in the removal of waste and rubble and the rehabilitation of infrastructure; support for young adults in the form of training, support and advisory measures and short-term support for small farmers through the distribution of productive resources to enable them to resume self-employment. The project is being implemented by the partner UNDP and has a duration of 24 months, starting in December 2022. |
