The aim is to make an important contribution to the stabilization of the host communities and the informal Palestinian settlements (gatherings) in Lebanon by supporting them in providing necessary basic services. At the same time, the project will continue to implement peace-building measures in schools and in cooperation with the media. Additional funds to combat the COVID-19 pandemic will provide communities and Palestinian settlements with targeted support in combating the pandemic during this phase. The target group includes the local population in the host communities and gatherings as well as the Syrian and Palestinian refugees living there. UNDP will be directly commissioned to implement the project. UNDP is working closely with the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) as part of the project. Funds of up to EUR 20 million will be made available for this phase from the ÜH or the KWI. I) On the one hand, the following key measures are planned in this phase, in consistency with the previous phases: 1) Investment measures in Lebanese host communities, the need for which for the community will be identified through a participatory process; 2) Improvement of living conditions in Palestinian communities through investments, particularly in public spaces and housing; 3) Nationwide peace promotion by strengthening social cohesion, measures against so-called fake news, continuation of activities in violence-free education (violence-free schools). II) On the other hand, additional funds to combat the COVID-19 pandemic will be used in this phase to support communities and communities in combating the pandemic. The following measures/results are planned: - Operational support for isolation centers where COVID-19 patients are quarantined; - Procurement of special containers for public hospitals to dispose of infectious waste, including from the treatment of COVID-19 patients; - Installation of photovoltaic and hot water systems and implementation of energy-saving measures in public hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients; - Support for health facilities in Palestinian communities that receive COVID-19 patients and the training and further education of Palestinian nursing staff.
