UNDP Lebanon Host Communities Support Programme (LHSP) Phase V

The aim is to make an important contribution to stabilising the host communities and the informal Palestinian settlements (gatherings) in Lebanon by supporting them in providing the necessary basic services. The target group includes the local population in the host communities as well as the Syrian and Palestinian refugees living there. UNDP will be directly commissioned to implement the project. UNDP is working closely with the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) on the project. Funds of up to EUR 15 million will be made available for this phase from the ÜH and the KWI. The following key measures are planned, in line with the previous phases: 1) Investment measures in Lebanese host communities to improve basic infrastructure and reduce tensions; 2) Improvement of living conditions in Palestinian informal settlements (gatherings) through investments, particularly in public spaces and housing; 3) Nationwide peace promotion through strengthening social cohesion, measures against so-called fake news, distribution of newspaper supplements on the Syrian crisis and continuation of activities in violence-free education (violence-free schools).
