Description

Description

The UNFOLD project aims to promote the ability of culture to revitalise communities by designing, testing, and disseminating a cooperation model of artistic interaction with unlikely audiences in unexpected public spaces. The partners coming from Serbia, Greece and Portugal share a complementary experience of organising cultural events, developing community audience. In doing so, the partners will investigate, test, and set ground for activation of spaces not regularly identified as places of cultural and artistic performances, run by non-cultural stakeholders (private companies; local governments; public transport operators; etc.) in order to activate the potential of those spaces to reach out to audience otherwise left out of ‘regular” cultural production, but also to promote the role of non-cultural stakeholders as contributors to community engagement, activism and cultural participation. This model will be methodologically captured in the format of a handbook broadly disseminated in 5 languages (English, Greek, Portuguese, Serbian and Hungarian) to national, regional and EU levels of potential users. The project design is based on transnational co-creation and implementation of 12 cultural interventions in communities other than artists’ origin. The project findings will be disseminated targeting cultural professionals, but also cultural policy and decision-makers from all levels of governance. The project aims for community activation by brining quality transnational cultural content to so far excluded audience. It will open a whole new cooperation channel between cultural professionals/artists, irregular audience, and unexpected space providers. As a way to respond to shrinking levels of cultural participation across Europe, this model will be promoted striving to become a regular cultural practice in expanding and activating new segments of audience, thus improving the overall impact and transformative power of culture to revitalise society.
