Description | The Ungka flyover project in Ungka, Pavia, Iloilo is a 453.7 lineal meters long infrastructure project built on a bored pile foundation, including approach infrastructure. The project suffered vertical displacement defects in piers 4, 5, and 6. It was partially opened to motorists on June 30, 2022, fully opened on September 5, 2022, and ordered closed on September 16, 2022. The project has been mothballed for 10 months, with an estimated repair cost of at least PHP 250 million based on a geotechnical investigation by a third-party consultancy firm. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has not yet disclosed the source of funds for the repair, which is expected to commence in 2024. The DPWH paid over PHP 13 million for the geotechnical investigation conducted from March to May 2023. |
