Description
Description | The funding is provided within the framework of the UNICEF country program Iraq, which was coordinated and agreed with the Iraqi government and is based on the Iraqi government's development program (National Development Plan 2013-2017), the Kurdistan Regional Governments Vision 2020, the Iraq Humanitarian Response Plan and the Regional, Refugee & Resilience Plan (3RP). The geographical focus of the UNICEF country program 2016-2019 is the regions of Dohuk, Ninewa, Erbil, Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah in the north of the country, Al Anbar and Najaf in the west and Thi-Quar and Basra in the south of Iraq. UNICEF will use the German contribution in the three components of education (25%), child protection (35%) and WASH (40%). By 2021, 750,000 of a total of 1.35 million children under the UNICEF country program of primary and secondary school age, with a focus on girls, are to benefit from improved and equal access to education and higher quality education in a gradually strengthened education system in Iraq. At the same time, at least 42,000 of a total of 200,000 children under the UNICEF country program will be provided with high-quality psychosocial and psychological measures (MHPSS) and at least another 5,750 children will benefit from support and counseling services for juvenile delinquents or measures to (re-)obtain personal documents in order to enable access to school education, health and other basic services. By 2021, around 2 of a total of 4.8 million people under the UNICEF country program are to benefit from the WASH measures, including around 47% children and young people. |
