UNICEF Iraq: Education, Child Protection and WASH

The aim of the project is to improve access to formal and informal educational opportunities and to psychosocial care for refugee children and local children in host communities. To this end, the German side is providing a financial contribution of up to EUR 30 million to UNICEF. The program is basically designed nationwide; the target group includes children of Syrian refugees, children of internally displaced persons and local children in host communities. In total, up to 385,000 children will benefit from the project. The implementation period is 12 months (beginning January 2015). The individual measures are based on the content of the Iraq Regional Response Plan (3RP) and the Iraq Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP). The program supplements the activities planned as part of the UNICEF Iraq Support for Refugees, Education and Protection of Children project (BMZ No. 2015 40 848).
