Description
Description | The project serves to continue German support for the UNICEF No Lost Generation initiative and the UNICEF education program in Jordan. The aim of the KWI project is to improve access to education and child protection measures for children and young people in need. A contribution of EUR 10 million is intended to continue the full financing of 32 selected Makani centers, including all services offered there, for a period of 12 months. In addition, measures to strengthen the sustainability of the Makani centers are to be implemented during this phase. The target group includes up to 28,000 needy children and young people living in Jordan, regardless of their nationality (component 1). An additional EUR 5 million will be made available to finance measures to alleviate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic (component 2). The curricula of the Makani centers will be digitized and made interactive. 78,000 children and young people will benefit from this. 7,000 vulnerable refugee children and young people registered in the Makani centers will be provided with basic notepads and internet access so that they can use online learning. In addition, around 800 young people and young adults will be given the opportunity to take part in certified IT courses to increase their chances of short-term employment. In addition, Makani services in 25 informal tent settlements and school buses for the children living there will be funded for up to 1,000 children and young people during this phase. |
