The aim of the project is to improve access to formal education for needy Lebanese children and non-Lebanese children. The grant of EUR 50 million will support the Lebanese RACE program (Reaching all Children with Education) in the 2018/2019 school year. The target group includes around 120,000 Lebanese and non-Lebanese schoolchildren, including over 80% Syrian refugee children who will gain access to formal education through the measure. UNICEF will be commissioned to implement the project. UNICEF specializes in educational projects in the refugee context in Lebanon and is working closely with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) on the project. The project also includes, to a limited extent, the financing of school rehabilitation and new school construction measures. Funds of up to EUR 50.0 million will be made available for the project from the title of crisis management, reconstruction and infrastructure in the context of crises (KWI).
