Description

Description

The project aims to strengthen the resilience of the Syrian population through improved access to clean drinking water and sanitation services. The target group includes the local population and internally displaced persons in the host communities. The measures mainly include the rehabilitation of public water and sewage infrastructure (water distribution networks, reservoirs, wells, pumping stations, sewage networks, sewage treatment plants). Part of the project funds will be invested in regions particularly affected by the earthquake disaster of February 2023 and by cholera. In the interests of greater operational sustainability, equipment, spare parts and accessories for the maintenance and operation of the rehabilitated infrastructure as well as training measures for the technical staff of the local operators of this infrastructure will also be carried out. The recipient of the funding and sponsor of the project is the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF.
