Description | The Uniper LNG Terminal Wilhelmshaven is a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) moored near Wilhelmshaven on Germany's North Sea coast. It offloads up to 7.5 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas per year and feeds it into the German high-pressure gas grid. The terminal includes a new jetty, high-pressure gas pipelines, and metering stations connected to the national transmission network. It was brought online in December 2022 after about 10 months of construction, supported by the German federal government's LNG Acceleration Act. The terminal is designed as a flexible bridge solution until fixed onshore LNG facilities and renewable alternatives can replace fossil gas. |
