Description | United Energy Group Ltd (HKG: 0476), a Chinese oil and gas firm, was developing wind farms totalling 500MW in Pakistan. The project developer received government permission in May 2012 for the 500MW program. Land use rights have been obtained for the first 150MW. The LOI is obtained for the second 350MW as well as for the first 150MW. The remaining rights are expected in August 2012. United Energy Group purchased USD750 million worth of oil and gas assets in Pakistan from BP (LON:BP) in 2011, and intends to poor US$3 billion in wind and solar projects. The projects were to be located close to the oil fields. Total project cost was estimated at US$ 3 billion. The firm holds a US$5,000 million credit line with China Development Bank Corporation.
