Description
Description | The applicant is representing an informal youth network called UNITED which is a network of human rights organizations that has been operational since 1991. It has been instrumental in creating and nurturing civil society in Europe and thus safeguarding and securing human rights. As a result of the work done by the UNITED network, new organizations and partnerships have been created and several projects and policies have been implemented. Since 2018, it has shifted its core operation to Budapest. The objectives of UNITED are to combat racism, fascism, nationalism, and discrimination with the help of the community, standing in unity with those who are willing to live in a better world, which is inclusive and diverse. It creates trainings, conferences, and campaigns in human rights issues focussing on hate crime and hate speech. United primarily works with youth and young adults in most of its activities. Young people are directly and actively involved in its governance and its campaigns. This grant is for United's operations and will support its core staff members, its volunteers and interns, its administration, and all its activities. Its activities in 2025 include: 1) One international conference 2) On-topic training programs - online and in situ 3) Research and development of useful materials in various topics 4) Four European-wide campaigns 5) Numerous advocacy and delegate presence 6) Intense communication and dissemination activities The outcome is to sustain, replenish and develop the network of UNITED and maintain a strong civil society presence in Europe in the current situation. There is a necessity for a strong civil society network like UNITED to exist and to involve the governments and authorities in a dialogue with young people about solidarity in our societies. This grant will make sure that we continue to work and implement human rights in all circumstances in the EU with strong youth involvement. |
