The University Avenue Scoping Study will evaluate three major components: the interchange with I-75/85, the intersection with Metropolitan Avenue (SR 3), and the extension of University Avenue to Avon Avenue in the Murphy Crossing area, with focus on air quality, congestion, and public health/safety issues along this east-west corridor, while promoting the economic development at the 31-acre Annie E. Casey Foundation site and 16-acre Old Farmers Market site at Murphy Crossing. The study will define cross-sections and intersection geometrics along University Avenue, context-sensitive to the various segments of the corridor, which will be determined from traffic engineering analysis and projections based on various development scenarios on and nearby the anchoring properties identified. The shorter-term implications of the Atlanta BeltLine trail network and the longer-term implications of the Atlanta Streetcar network running in the Atlanta BeltLine corridor will be considered.
