University Avenue South Multi-Use Bike Path

The Alaska Department of Transportation plans to add a dedicated multi-use path on University Avenue South from the Mitchell Expressway to Armistead Way and the east Fairbanks International Airport’s east ramp facilities. The project includes a 10-foot-wide pathway for cyclists and pedestrians on the south side of the road with a five-foot painted buffer zone separating it from the two-lane road, and a four-foot shoulder on the north side. The project aims to enhance pedestrian and bicyclist safety, connect to the Fairbanks non-motorized path network, and improve overall safety and multi-modal transportation in the borough.
