Description

Description

The project involves the design, construction, financing, operation, and long-term maintenance of a new Central Utility Plant for the University of Kentucky, along with extensive upgrades to the campus utility distribution network. The new facility will provide steam, chilled water, and enhanced backup power capacity to support the university’s growing academic, research, and healthcare operations. The scope also includes new utility piping, system connections, and modernization of existing energy infrastructure to improve reliability, efficiency, and resilience across campus. Delivered through a public-private partnership (P3), the project is expected to support future campus expansion, including growth in the university’s hospital and healthcare facilities, with the private partner responsible for operating and maintaining the infrastructure for approximately 30 years after construction is completed.
