Description

Description

We are investing in energy efficient retrofits at U of T’s St. George Campus in downtown Toronto. U of T has aging infrastructure, including a 120-year-old district energy system. The St. George Campus is expected to double in size by 2050. The university needs to responsibly manage the growth of its campus to mitigate the environmental impacts of more space and activity. Renewing its existing and aged utility infrastructure will ensure future performance and build resilient low carbon systems. The projects financed through the CIB’s investment will contribute to effective energy reductions. Benefits of CIB InvolvementThis is the second investment under our Building Retrofits Initiative which seeks to achieve significant energy savings from infrastructure owned and/or managed by the public sector. Our financing was required to bridge the project’s commercial and economic gap which allowed it to move forward. Our intent is to be repaid over the term of the contract, not the life of assets and repayment would be made through energy cost savings.
