Unlocking Strategic Sites Residential Development

planned

The Victorian government has identified a pipeline of underutilised land across Victoria to be fast-tracked for residential development under the Unlocking Strategic Sites pathway. The initiative aims to deliver around 10,000 new homes by rezoning former industrial sites, golf courses, racetracks, surplus education land, and other large parcels that have remained idle. The first seven sites announced could deliver up to 9,155 homes and create around 8,900 jobs. The pathway is designed to speed up rezoning, cutting the traditional council planning process timeframe roughly in half, and requires a minimum of 10% affordable housing in every development.
