Description
Description | In the wake of a tumultuous period marked by global financial crises, the Eurozone crisis, Brexit, and the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19, the European Union (EU) finds itself at a critical juncture. The Euro, as the common currency for a significant portion of the member states, has come under scrutiny, with Eurosceptics gaining ground. However, this project aims to shift the narrative by focusing on the benefits of the Euro and exploring how its strategic use can foster greater integration across European economies. A comprehensive teaching program will be developed, comprising about 750 hours distributed over three years. The curriculum will cover the economic, political, and historical aspects of the Euro, providing students with a nuanced understanding of the currency and its role in European integration. Guest lectures, workshops, and seminars will complement traditional classroom instruction to foster a dynamic learning environment. The teaching program will also be supported by a research program, where the primary objective is to conduct in-depth research on the advantages and positive impacts of adopting the Euro. This research will analyze case studies from other Eurozone countries and explore the economic, financial, and political benefits associated with a common currency. By providing evidence-based insights, the project aims to counteract Eurosceptic narratives and build a robust foundation for the potential benefits of Euro adoption. With Bulgaria on the cusp of transitioning to the Euro, the project will also focus on tailoring the benefits of the Euro to the Bulgarian context. By understanding the unique economic and social dynamics of Bulgaria, the research will identify specific ways in which the adoption of the Euro can further enhance economic integration, trade, and stability within the country and the wider European Union. |
