Description

Description

UNMASC! is a two-year-long transnational artistic research and theatre project in Kosovo, Serbia, and Austria that aims to promote gender justice by making structural violence visible and creating counter-narratives to misogynist and patriarchal values, norms, and role expectations. The project has three main objectives: transnational artistic research, promoting gender justice with socially engaged theatre, and providing capacity building and learning opportunities in the field of socially engaged art. The project aims to address the gap in the representation of diverse perspectives on European theatre stages and it does so by collecting personal stories from participants in each country through artistic research, interviews, and creative theatre workshops. The collected personal narratives and stories are then transformed into three theatre productions, with each organisation producing one performance with their artistic direction and team. The productions will be touring through the partners’ venues. UNMASC! involves three organisations that are all active in the field of socially engaged art, and the participating organisations commit to a collaborative production approach based on joint conception and decision-making without neglecting needs emerging from local contexts. The project aims to create positive identification models through the creation of counter images to dominant gender constructions, deconstruct patriarchal narratives and give voice to the stories of multiple marginalised perspectives. UNMASC! will be published in an e-book and made available to interested organisations, theatre makers and artists throughout Europe.
