Description
Description | The objective of this ÜH project is to strengthen the resilience of the population affected by displacement by rehabilitating basic municipal infrastructure, repairing housing and improving access to public services. In the second phase of this ÜH project, the corresponding measures will also be implemented in rural and peri-urban regions of Anbar Province and additionally in the Sinjar district of Ninewa Province. The most important aid measures focus on the repair and restoration of damaged housing (875 housing units), the repair of municipal infrastructure such as water/sewage systems and pumping stations (12), the renovation of municipal roads (3 km) and the installation of solar-powered street lighting (700). Solar-powered pumps are also used for water pumps that need to be replaced. In addition, local administrative staff, members of the target communities, village elders and members of local NGOs are taught important skills for the repair and maintenance of the technology provided (photovoltaic systems). In addition, the population of the target communities is sensitized to relevant aspects of environmental protection and sustainability. The project is planned for 4 years (48 months), with the last year being the warranty phase for the repaired infrastructure. The total volume of this second phase amounts to EUR 20 million. |
