Description
Description | The aim of the project is to strengthen the resilience of Palestinian refugees by creating temporary income opportunities and introducing them to the labor market (primary objective) and maintaining access to basic social services (secondary objective). The project thus contributes to stabilizing the livelihoods of workers and their families, which are being shaken again in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the project contributes to the adaptation of the beneficiaries to the crisis context in the Gaza Strip in the medium term through investments in infrastructure and on-the-job training measures. The project has a term of 24 months, starting in January 2021. A FC contribution of EUR 10 million from the title of transitional aid will be made available for the project. The target group of the project are Palestinian refugees of working age (18-65 years) (direct target group). Appropriate selection criteria are intended to take particularly poor refugees into account. A total of 5,370 people are to be given temporary employment. At least 1,830 of the beneficiaries are women. The special consideration given to university graduates who complete work-related training measures as part of the project is aimed at introducing them to the labor market. In addition to the direct target group of employees, their family members (a total of around 32,000 people) and the users of the rehabilitated infrastructure also benefit from the project. In total, the expected number of direct and indirect beneficiaries is around 52,000 refugees. Double counting cannot be completely ruled out. |
