Description
Description | The living situation of the population in the Gaza Strip is characterized by repeatedly flaring up conflicts and the tense socio-economic situation. The ÜH project is intended to counteract unemployment among refugees in Gaza and thus contributes to stabilizing the livelihoods of workers and their families. By deploying employees in UNRWA facilities and with local entrepreneurs and by rehabilitating social infrastructure, important basic services are made possible for the entire group of refugees supported by UNRWA. The aim of the project is to strengthen the resilience of Palestinian refugees by creating temporary income opportunities and introducing them to the labor market (primary objective) and maintaining access to basic social services (secondary objective). The target group of the project are vulnerable Palestinian refugees of working age (18-65 years). A total of 10,150 people are to receive temporary employment. At least 3,000 of the beneficiaries are women. The special consideration of university graduates who gain work experience as part of the project aims to introduce them to the job market. In addition to the direct target group of employees, their family members (approx. 46,000 people) and the users of the rehabilitated infrastructure (approx. 11,000) also benefit. In total, the expected number of direct and indirect beneficiaries is around 67,150 refugees. Double counting cannot be completely ruled out. The project, which is financed by transitional aid, is being implemented in Gaza via UNRWA. |
