Description

Description

The U.S. Mission to NATO invites not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations and think tanks that focus on international affairs, defense and security issues, and U.S. and European relations to submit project proposals which will encourage public discussion and creative public engagement in Europe on the major theme of “Unwrapping the Warsaw Summit: NATO and the New Euro-Atlantic Security Environment”. We are looking forward to working with partner institutions to discuss the implications of the outcomes of the 2016 NATO Summit in Warsaw and shed light on important NATO-related topics, including, but not limited to: - 21st Century Deterrence; o Implementation of the Readiness Action Plan (RAP); o The Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF); - The NATO-Russia relationship; - NATO and the Southern Flank; - European Defense Spending; - NATO Partnerships and Cooperative Security o Collaboration with European Union and other international institutions o Looking South—Gulf Cooperation Council, African Union; - NATO capabilities; o Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD); o Joint Intelligence Reconnaissance and Surveillance (JISR); o A2AD and Future Capabilities - Maritime cooperation; - Countering Hybrid Warfare; - Women in peace and security; Additional goals include combating misinformation and delivering clear messages about the importance of the NATO Alliance and its mission to a broad audience including the general public, youth and future leaders, the security and defense community, policy makers and opinion shapers in European countries. We are hoping to stimulate new ideas and to encourage public dialogue on the priorities for the NATO in the upcoming years. The activities funded with a Fixed Amount Award might embrace (but should not be limited to): • conferences, • symposiums, • public debates and moderated discussions, • round-tables, • competitions.
