Update on EU judicial cooperation instruments

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the effective and coherent application of EU law, especially with regard to the implementation of mutual recognition instruments in the field of judicial cooperation by increasing the correct and consistent understanding of the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The project seeks to achieve this objective through developing sustainable training practices addressing the needs of justice professionals across the EU by providing a hands-on on continuous training on the flagship instruments of EU judicial cooperation in both civil and criminal law. The trainings will specifically explore, the recent case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in relation to the above instruments and see what issues emerged in the course of the practical application of the above mentioned instruments in which national courts sought interpretative aid from the CJEU. Activities • Kick-off Meeting//2 Steering Committee Meetings, b/b with the events in Luxembourg, and online. • 8 one-day face to face training events in Luxembourg, interpreted into the languages of the project, coupled with a visit to the CJEU and an induction training on the preliminary reference procedure. • 8 Training materials on how to accommodate CJEU case law in practice. • 8 Practitioner’s notes summarising the outcome of discussions • Project evaluation incl. quality and impact and effectiveness evaluation per training activity • Project dedicated sub-webpage on www.eipa.eu hosting the training materials/digital content. Type and number of persons benefiting from the project: 200+ legal practitioners participating in the training series and falling within the target group . Expected results: strengthening of the principles of mutual trust and mutual recognition, thus contributing to the increased understanding of judicial cooperation instruments and full alinement with the corresponding case law of the CJEU
