This project in Manufacturing sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Not Applicable Economic/Social Impact of the Project The Value Added Business of Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore, is the largest private producer of Pig Iron in the Country. At present there exists 3 Blast funaces with production capacity of 8,32,000 tonnes of Pig Iron. In addition to the same The business has existing and approved production capacity of 6,22,000 Tons Per Annum of Met Coke. The complex also houses waster heat recovery plants power plants with rated capacity of 65 MW, in addition to Sinter Plant if 10,00,000 TPA rates capacity and Oxygen and Nitrogen Plants of 100 PTD ad 50 TPD respectivele. The Value Added Business of Vedant Ltd generates direct and indirect jobs to the tune of 4000 in the State of Goa with further development oppurtunities being providd to downstream industries. The Proposed project includes- Up-Gradation of BF [1 & 2] to Enhance the Production Capacity from 292 KTPA to 350 KTPA, BF-3 from 540 KTPA to 650 KTPA, Setting up of 100 TPD,Additional Oxygen Plant, Ductile Iron Pipe Plant of 300 KTPA,4 Additional Met Coke Ovens, Setting Up of Fe-Si Plant of 5 KTPA- The proposed capacity enhancement of pig iron in blast furnaces will be done through process optimization, efficiency improvement and technology upgradation. This production increase will be achieved through increased injection of wind volume, oxygen enriched blast, charging sinter feed upto 50percentage, better process control in operations etc. without any changes in Blast Furnace [BF] proper, introduction of new DI pipe plant using hot metal from Blast Furnace [BF]-3, addition of 5,000 TPA of Fe-Si plant which is desired raw material for DI plant, with addition of 4 coke ovens in existing coke oven plant for improving the productivity keeping the production capacity of coke oven plant of 3,20,000 TPA. The proposed expansion project will generate direct & indirect employment of about 450 manpower giving opportunities to the local people. The capital cost of the proposed expansion project is about Rs. 701 Crores. The anticipated capital expenditure for the pollution control measures is about 5 percentage of the total project cost. The existing area will be utilised for proposed project without acquiring any new land.
