"The overarching goal of the Global Project is to complete construction of the "" Upgrade and construction of the section Stuttgart-Wendlingen including Stuttgart 21"" to make it operational by 2025. To this end, the final construction steps, which include the structural work in the sections ""Airport link - new build-line with NBS station"" (PFA 1.3a) are carried out. The structural work for PFA 1.3a includes the construction of the new line between Stuttgart and Ulm as well as a link to the new long-distance train station at the Stuttgart Airport. This contributes to the interconnection of transport modes and simplifies the accessibility of the airport from and to many cities at the European, National and Regional level. The main objective of this project is to eliminate the bottleneck that Stuttgart currently represents in the establishment of the Magistrale for Europe. This objective is common to all the work packages we present in this application. A secondary objective is to improve the interconnection of transport modes by linking Stuttgart Airport to the high-speed rail infrastructure that contributes to the objectives of the trans-European transport network. The expected results are similar to those of the overall project, this includes mainly the reduction of transport times and the increase of the capacity of the railroad infrastructure in Stuttgart."
