Description

Description

The proposed project involves upgrading the existing facility by renewing and/or replacing aging equipment and adding redundancy in treatment unit processes to conform with current design standards. Coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration process will be upgraded to meet current design standards and sized to achieve the approved design capacity of 2946 m3/d. Equipment selection will take into consideration the significant challenges in treating Bay of Quinte source water, particularly in summer and fall when algal blooms often occur. Renewal will also include replacement of aging disinfection equipment, and add baffles to existing treated water clearwells to maximize the reliability and efficiency of the disinfection process. Controls will be modernized to SCADA from the original manual control system. Aging electrical control panels, motors, pumps, lighting, building heating, and other building and mechanical systems will be replaced to improve reliability and efficiency. The present facility uses a common area for process controls, office, laboratory, and lunch room. Upgrading would include provision of designated areas for the above noted functions.
