Description
Description | The Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) enabled computers in these facilities date to the construction of the treatment facilities in 2005/06. 10-years has exceeded the service life of the computer hardware/software, and recently support for Windows XP has been discontinued. This would consist of upgrades of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware and programming. Existing PLCs are reaching capacity which will restrict future programming expansion. The output to the community is the continued assurance of clean drinking water to the communities of Red Lake. Upgrades are as follows: Cochenour water treatment plant (WTP): New SCADA Computer with SCADA software, PLC System. Cochenour WTP PLC, Balmertown Reservoir Pumping Station PLC and Low Lift Pump House PLC will be combined into one PLC. Ethernet TCP-IP distributed I/O racks will be utilized. Low Lift Pump House will utilize existing fiber optic line from WTP to Low Lift Pump House. Installation and commissioning of new equipment. Programming of new system to function as per existing. Balmertown Reservoir Pumping Station: New SCADA Computer with SCADA software. New PLC System, Installation and commissioning, Programming to function as per existing. Madsen Water Treatment Plant: New SCADA Computer with SCADA software. New PLC System. Madsen Plant PLC, BCA PLC and Low Lift pumping Station PLC will be combined in to one PLC. Ethernet TCP-IP distributed I/O racks will be utilized. Low Lift Pumping Station will utilize existing fiber optic line from WTP to Low Lift Pumping Station. Installation and commissioning of new equipment. Programming of new system to function as per existing. The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change requested the integration of flow monitors for chemical feed systems, complete with alarms and automatic shutdown. |
