Description

Description

The upgrades at the Parkhill Reservoir would allow for a direct by-passing of the pumps to the Municipalities water distribution system which would ensure safe drinking water; additionally, improvements and some replacements of the “baffles” within the facility would make the reservoir structurally sound. Currently there are significant structural deficiencies at the Parkhill Reservoir making these works essential as a long term solution for safe drinking water. Currently, 961 residents “pull” from this system and the Municipality has had three (3) alerts within the last eight years pertaining to this system. Under current conditions, the existing pumps operate almost 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. These upgrades would create storage and pump “relief” within this water system and in turn would also “relieve” some of the existing demand from our “feeder”, the Mount Carmel Reservoir (which is under sized), by providing redundancy to the distribution system in the event of another failure to the Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System (LHPWSS).
