Description | The Chembarambakkam water treatment plant in Chennai was upgraded to increase its capacity to 530 million liters per day (MLD). The upgrade includes laying an additional pipeline to supply 265 MLD of water to various parts of south Chennai and its suburbs, benefiting around 20 lakh people. The main water pipeline was divided into two sections: 11.7 km from the plant to Porur and 9.2 km from Poonamallee Outer Ring Road junction to Koyambedu, with the latter already completed. The project enables Metrowater to supply the full capacity of 530 MLD to the city and outskirts, with water supply managed based on residents' requirements. |
