Description
Description | The community flood protection and highway corridor solution requires upgrading of the existing Avon River Aboiteau (replacement in coordination with the twinning of Highway 101 in this area), 3 additional minor aboiteaux structures, and 4 kilometres of Dykeland system, including the causeway (which provides a protected corridor for the highway, rail, and power infrastructure). The new aboiteau and upgraded dykeland system will provide long-term climate change resilience, adaptation and mitigation for the community and infrastructure which is currently vulnerable to flooding risk (sea-level-rise, storm surge events). This project is in consultation with the Department of Agriculture, who maintain and operate the dykes and aboiteaux throughout the province. |
