Description | The Upper Krishna Project 3 (UKP-3) involves acquiring 1.34 lakh acres of land over three financial years to increase the height of the Almatti Dam from 519.6 metres to 524.526 metres. The project aims to irrigate 5.97 lakh hectares of land, benefiting farmers in the region and improving their living standards. The land acquisition includes 75,563 acres to be submerged, 51,837 acres for canal construction, and 6,469 acres for rehabilitation. Compensation will be provided to landowners based on land type and usage. The project cost is estimated at around Rs 70,000 crore, with an annual cost of Rs 15,000-20,000 crore. The state government is preparing for project execution amid pending gazette notification and opposition from Maharashtra. |
